Show notes
We've got podcast tunnel vision for one subject in particular this week: graphics. Fresh from the Nvidia GPU Technology Conference, Scott has plenty to say about Nvidia's latest efforts, especially on the general-purpose computing front. We cover everything from the next-gen Fermi architecture to general-purpose applications for Nvidia GPUs, which have included cool-looking fire effects in the Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince movie.
As the episode winds down, we look at the possible demise of Nvidia's chipset business, the arrival and scarcity of AMD's Radeon HD 5850, and Nvidia disabling PhysX acceleration for folks running GeForces and Radeons together.
Send in listener mail, and we'll answer on the podcast. - jdrake@techreport.com
