Quake III Arena
You'll notice that we've only included results for three screen resolutions this time around. That's because we found that nearly none of the fastest cards are significantly fill-rate limited at 1024x768. And at 640x480, we're now finding nearly identical performance across the board. Very low resolutions may reveal differences in polygon throughput, but so does 1024x768 nowadays. You can see our previous article for 640x480 results.
Now, how does the Ti 4200 measure up?

In all three resolutions, the Ti 4200 manages to outrun not only the Radeon 8500LE, but also the full-blown Radeon 8500. NVIDIA's more efficient memory architecture pays off here, delivering more real-world performance than the ATI chip can with comparable core and memory clock speeds. Will the same hold true in our other tests? Well..
