Quake III Arena
The Athlon XP 3000+ can't quite live up to its model number in Quake III, but it puts in a respectable showing. For the record, we didn't use "r_smp 1" with the Hyper-Threaded setups.
3DMark2001 SE
3DMark is a tight battle, but the Pentium 4 3.06GHz comes out on top. Hyper-Threading and RDRAM help it extend its lead.
Serious Sam SE
Barton's larger cache helps out pretty well in Serious Sam SE, as the AMD chips finally win outright in one of our gaming tests.
Comanche 4
Comanche 4, however, is the Pentium 4's domain. Barton's cache does help out a bit here, though.
Unreal Tournament 2003
This is the kind of performance that makes AMD's model numbers look sane. Unreal Tournament prefers the Barton's extra cache over higher clock speeds, and the Athlon XP models generally come out ahead of the competing Pentium 4 chips. Both Hyper-Threading and RDRAM help, but they can't quite push the Pentium 4 to the top of the heap.
