Update (06/06/2003): Since this article was published, a NVIDIA was found to have employed a number of application-specific optimizations for 3DMark03 in its Detonator FX drivers. A new 3DMark03 patch from Futuremark curtailed NVIDIA's artificially high performance in the benchmark, but a new set of application-specific optimizations have been found that artificially inflate NVIDIA's scores in 3DMark03 with anisotropic filtering enabled.

In 3DMark03, which NVIDIA maintains is an inadequate measure of graphics performance, the Detonator FX drivers serve up another healthy performance boost for the GeForce FX cards.

3DMark03's much-maligned Battle of Proxycon game test yields the most impressive performance advantage for the Detonator FX drivers, but there are consistent gains across 3DMark03's game tests, including the gorgeous Mother Nature test.
