Pretty sneaky, SiS
This is an old trick, but a persistent one. Or it's inadvertent and nothing to worry about. Whatever the case, as you can see in the screenshots below, the SiS reference board reported front-side bus and clock speeds a fair bit higher than those of the Intel 875P and VIA PT880 systems. As a result, the SiS system's Pentium 4 is running at 3231MHz, not 3200MHz.

Now, we haven't verified these scores with any external equipment, so we're just reporting to you what the motherboards told us. But you may want to keep these differences in mind as you read through the benchmark results. The SiS system may have a bit of an edge, if indeed it's running faster than the other two systems.

Similarly, the VIA board reports that it's running at lower clock speeds than one would expect. These minor differences above and below the expected clock speed could potentially influence the outcome of our tests. Our benchmark results for chipsets sometimes show only minor differences between products, especially when they are evenly matched. This apparent clock speed disparity illustrates the difficulty of drawing conclusions based on slight differences in benchmark outcomes—something to keep in mind.
