Half-Life 2 - Route Kanal
Our first Half-Life 2 demo is a longish section of the Route Kanal sequence early in the game. It combines a number of effects, including reflective water and the flashlight, with a lot of running around in simple, dark corridors and a few outside areas.

Half-Life 2 is obviously a more hospitable place for the ATI cards; they perform relatively better here. The dual 6600 GTs manage to keep pace with the single Radeon X800 Pro and GeForce 6800 GT cards until we reach high resolutions with antialiasing and aniso filtering, where the 6600 GT SLI rig's 128MB of effective video memory starts to slow it down. The single-card, $299 Radeon X800 XL also outruns the 6600 GT SLI setup.
