The TR Podcast blog

A belated podcast scheduling note
— 12:48 PM on January 2, 2012

You'll have to forgive me for the tardy timing of this blog post. What with Christmas vacation, followed by a crazy work week, topped with a New Years Eve weekend, it's been a hectic past few days. For many of those reasons, plus the fact that most of our staff will be on the floor of CES next week (and thus unable to do a proper podcast when we were originally scheduled for one), we're delaying the next podcast until next weekend. Then, two weeks later, after Scott, Geoff, and Cyril have returned and rested from their pilgrimage to silicone valley, we'll capture their thoughts in podcast form for a January 22nd episode.

That's all I have for now. See you next weekend!

The TR Podcast: Help us celebrate 100 episodes
— 9:39 AM on November 10, 2011

If you're a regular listener of the TR Podcast, you're probably aware of the fact that our next episode, set to be released this Sunday night (the 13th), will be our 100th. We have a variety of ideas for ways to celebrate such a milestone, but due to all the usual reasons (each of our key editors slaving away at secret reviews and pulling record all-nighters), we've had to postpone any elaborate plans for celebration. In future episodes, you will likely see some belated commemorative extras, but for our recording session for episode 100 tonight, we'd like to keep things simple and hear from you, the listener.

If you have any thoughts, questions, memories, or other such fitting milestone sentiments that come to mind, please post them in the comments below before 9:30pm ET this evening when we record. We'll use anything you submit as fuel for a short celebratory session to kick off the episode. Otherwise, you can expect a good 'ol fashioned session of PC hardware reviewed, just like always.

A quick TR Podcast scheduling note
— 1:32 AM on May 6, 2011

It's been just over six months since I moved to this wild island city called New York. Since making this major geographical and vocational change, I've been doing my best to balance life, work, and tech podcasting. After six months of all this balancing, I'm ready for a quick sabbatical, and will be leaving today (Friday the 6th) for a brief vacation. I'm joining up with some longtime friends and making my way down to a small lake in the middle of Georgia, where I will proceed to work as hard as possible to do absolutely nothing for my brief period of downtime. I can't wait.

That said, I won't be around this weekend to host another thrilling episode of the TR podcast (apparently, neither will Scott, so it's pretty good timing all around). We will resume programming next weekend and release episode 87 of our show on Sunday the 15th.

In the meantime, feel free to browse the other tech podcasts in the iTunes podcast store, so you can get an idea of exactly how much cooler the TR Podcast is.

I'm kidding, of course.  We know statistically that most of you don't use iTunes.

Postponing release of the next podcast episode
— 8:47 PM on August 15, 2010

Just a quick update from the TR Podcast studios. I returned last weekend from Gigabyte's Go OC 2010 overclocking event in Los Angeles, and I'll be releasing my on-the-ground report in the next episode of the podcast. Due to some scheduling issues, we're going to delay the release of episode 70 until the middle of this week. Check your feeds some time around Wednesday evening.

Neither rain nor sleet nor snow...
— 11:57 AM on February 11, 2010

The universe is aligned against us this weekend. I'm currently in Washington, D.C. on a business trip and am completely buried in the record amounts of snow we've been getting on the east coast. My plan was to travel back to North Carolina (where the TR Podcast studios are located) in time for our regular podcast recording session tomorrow (Friday). Instead, I'm stuck here in our nation's capital for a few more days—and ultimately unable to record and produce a new episode of the TR Podcast for this weekend. Needless to say, Scott and the rest of the gang are devastated... just devastated.

If you haven't heard our latest episode, "Tales from CES," feel free to give that a listen over the weekend, or maybe tune into to one of my favorite radio shows and podcasts: This American Life. Either way, we'll be back in two weeks for our regularly scheduled podcast (Sunday the 28th, I believe).

'Til then!

No show this weekend
— 1:17 PM on December 29, 2009

With CES just a week away, excitement is building here at TR. I've added some serious gear to my mobile audio recording rig (shotgun mics, wireless lapels, etc), so hopefully our audio coverage of the show will max out the epic-ness meter. Meanwhile, the rest of the CES team (Scott, Adam and Geoff) are all quite busy in their own respective ways either preparing for the event or finishing up pre-CES deadlines.

With all the hustle and bustle, we've decided not to release a podcast for this upcoming weekend. We'll return from CES and give you a full report on the next scheduled podcast date (the 17th of January). You can also look forward to a half-episode in the style of our anniversary show and MSI MOA Beijing show.

So, for this New Years weekend, instead of waiting patiently for the next episode, go see Avatar in 3D... or something.
