ASRock, known for its unique and wildly improbable motherboard designs, has struck again with a motherboard based on the Northwood-era Intel 865PE chipset that can nonetheless accommodate Intel's latest Core 2 Duo processors. The ConRoe865PE includes a good old AGP8X slot, DDR memory slots, two 150MB/s Serial ATA ports, and two IDE ports. Akiba PC Hotline has spotted one of the boards in the wild (translate here) retailing for ¥8,980, which is equivalent to just $78. The Akiba guys didn't get to take one of the mobos home and run any benchmarks, though, so we don't yet know how the ConRoe865PE performs alongside offerings based on Intel's new P965 chipset.
