GeForce 8 graphics processors go mobile

To coincide with the launch of Intel's new Centrino Duo notebook platform, Nvidia has introduced a whole lineup of mobile graphics processors based on the same architecture as its desktop GeForce 8-series GPUs. The mobile GPUs are part of new GeForce 8600M and GeForce 8400M lines, and their specifications are as follows:

Nvidia says the new notebooks GPUs, which it claims are "the world's first to support DirectX 10 and fully accelerate the decoding of H.264 full HD movies," are available in notebooks from companies including Acer, Asus, HP, Samsung, and Toshiba.

For professional users, Nvidia has also unveiled a set of Quadro FX mobile GPUs including Quadro FX 3500M, 2500M, 1600M, 1500M, 570M, 360M, and 350M models. Nvidia says Alienware, Dell, Eurocom, Fujitsu, Fujitsu-Siemens, HP, and Voodoo PC will all sell notebooks powered by these new Quadro FX mobile GPUs.
