After unveiling the Eee PC at Computex in June, Asustek is now getting ready to ship the low-priced notebook. DigiTimes reports that the company will kick off volume shipments of Eee PCs in the United States, Europe, China, and Taiwan in mid-September. Initial shipments will reportedly amount to 20,000 units, and DigiTimes says the machines will be priced at $199, $239, $349, and $369 depending on their specifications.

Asustek predicts that shipments of Eee PCs will add up to a total of 500,000 this year and three to five million next year. While the machine is largely intended for the retail market, DigiTimes mentions that education organizations and emerging markets have also placed orders for the systems.
