A year and a half has passed since the DisplayPort 1.0 specification was approved by the Video Electronics Standards Association. Since then, VESA ratified a new 1.1 spec that includes HDCP 1.3 content protection, and Samsung announced a DisplayPort monitor, but devices with support for the interface are still far from omnipresent.
However, The Inquirer reports that the largest LCD monitor vendor—Dell—is about to unveil a DisplayPort monitor, as well. The display is none other than the 2008 refresh of Dell's famed 30" monster display, which will be known as the UltraSharp 3008WFP. The Inq has shots of the display and its connector hub, and it looks like the 3008WFP will feature a DisplayPort input along with connectors for DVI-D, HDMI, component, VGA, and S-VHS inputs. The 3008WFP will have a native resolution of 2560x1600, and it will apparently replace the existing 3007WFP-HC—the high-color version of the 3007WFP.
