For folks who need more storage space than USB thumb drives can deliver, Western Digital has added a new, higher capacity model to its line of Passport portable hard drives. The new drive has a 320GB capacity and features the same sleek, "piano black" enclosure and USB 2.0 interface as others in the lineup.

According to Western Digital's product page, the enclosure measures only 0.59" x 5.11" x 3.14" (1.5 x 1.3 x 8 cm), and the whole package has a weight of just 3.7 ounces (105 g). As an added portability plus, the drive is powered entirely via USB, so there's no need to carry around a power lead. It also comes with WD Sync synchronization and 128-bit encryption software, which helps keep data safe case the drive is lost or stolen.

WD's new 320GB Passport hard drive is available right now at "select retail stores" as well as the company's own online store for $229.99.
