The news broke out late last month: Microsoft planned to unveil a $300 million advertising campaign, which would star celebrities like Jerry Seinfeld and Sir William Henry Gates III himself.
Just over two weeks later, one of the ads has made its way onto YouTube. Behold:
We heard the new ads were supposed to focus on the "Windows, Not Walls" slogan and pimp Windows Vista, but this one does pretty much none of that. Instead, it shows Bill Gates and Jerry Seinfeld incongruously shopping for shoes at a discount store, exchanging odd remarks about footwear and cake. Seriously.
One might assume this ad is the first part in a greater series, and Microsoft is simply using it to draw interest. If that's the case, the scheme may well be working. (Thanks to TR reader Jonathan for the link.)
