After adding Asus' Eee PCs and Acer's Aspire one, Best Buy has further broadened its notebook portfolio. MSI tells us the store chain now carries the Wind U100 at retail locations throughout the country.
MSI's Wind U100 features a 10" 1024x600 display, an Atom processor, 1GB of RAM, and a copy of Windows XP Home Edition. The particular variant Best Buy sells has a 120GB mechanical hard drive and a three-cell battery, too, and it may cost around $480 if Newegg's pricing is any indication. 480 bucks is roughly in the same ballpark as Asus' Eee PC 1000H, but the Eee has a bigger battery (and a higher-capacity hard drive, if you're looking at the 1000H 160G version).
Check out our review of the MSI Wind U100 for more details. Overall, we liked the system's keyboard, aesthetics, and low noise levels, but we weren't too impressed with its battery life. The three-cell variant we tested only stayed up for two-and-a-half hours with Wi-Fi on, Bluetooth off, and the display at its 50% brightness setting.
