Search for the latest Nvidia graphics card right now, and you might think every Taiwanese person gets his own Nvidia GPU brand at birth. Nvidia enjoys a real abundance of partners, and they're all trying to one-up each other with better bundles and warranty coverage.
That might all be about to change. Fudzilla reports that Nvidia will "very shortly" prune its partners list and leave only six companies: Asus, EVGA, MSI, Palit, XFX, and Zotac. That's it. Firms like Albatron, BFG, ECS, Foxconn, Leadtek, and others may either have to start working with AMD or pull out of the graphics card arena.
Of course, this is little more than a rumor right now, and Fudzilla admits to a shortage of details. We have been hearing similar whispers from the rumor mill for a while, however, and such a move might make sense for Nvidia. A shorter partners list would be easier to manage, and trimming the number of available video cards could make things less confusing for consumers.
