The second service pack for Windows Vista may still be a few months away, according to TechARP. The site has learned from a "confidential source" that Microsoft plans to push out a release candidate in February, with the completed, "release to manufacturing" build to follow in April.
Vista SP2's actual launch date on Windows Update remains up in the air, since service packs can take some time to go out to the public after Microsoft finishes them. Last year, Vista SP1 went gold in early February, but the pack didn't make it onto Windows Update until mid-March.
As we learned a few weeks back, Vista SP2 will introduce a handful of major new features alongside the usual patches and security fixes. Among those features should be Windows Search 4.0, Bluetooth 2.1 support, Blu-ray disc writing capabilities, and a Windows Connect Now capability that will "simplify Wi-Fi Configuration," in Microsoft's words.
