Microsoft will deliver the first release candidate of its new web browser on Monday, according to "sources familiar with the company's plans" quoted by PC World. Internet Explorer 8 RC1 has been in the works ever since the release of the second IE8 beta last August.
The rumor mill isn't the only one suggesting the RC1 build is just around the corner, either. A Microsoft staffer posted on the IEBlog earlier this week to say, "The version of IE8 in Windows 7 Beta is somewhat older than the Internet Explorer 8 Release Candidate (IE8 RC1) that we're about to release for Windows Vista and Windows XP." PC World writes that Microsoft has even told the press to expect an IE8-related announcement on Monday, although it "will only comment under embargo."
IE General Manager Dean Hachamovitch stated last November that professionals and organizations should expect the final 8.0 release to behave just like the RC1 build, so Microsoft should have ironed out most of the major kinks already.
