Corsair announces Lynnfield-bound DDR3 kits

Intel's next-gen Lynnfield processors are already trickling out into the wild, so why shouldn't memory makers all rush in to announce their matching products? Unabashed, Corsair has announced six new dual-channel DDR3 memory kits aimed at the new hardware.

Unlike Kingston, which made a similar announcement ealier this month, this memory vendor makes no secret of the intended platform for these kits—it even quotes the Core i5-750, Core i7-870, and Core i7-860 model names for Lynnfield parts.

Corsair's new lineup includes four 4GB dual-channel kits and two 8GB dual-channel kits, with top rated speeds of 1333MHz, 1600MHz, or 2000MHz. Presented in abridged list form, the product line looks like so:

  • 4GB XMS DDR3-1600, CL9
  • 4GB XMS DDR3-1600, CL8
  • 4GB Dominator DDR3-1600, CL8
  • 4GB Dominator GT DDR3-2000, CL8
  • 8GB XMS DDR3-1333, CL9
  • 8GB XMS DDR3-1600, CL9

Corsair notes that the kits all use a "low operating voltage of 1.65V or less." Also, both the Dominator and Dominator GT kits have those fancy DHX+ heatsinks, which work with Corsair's liquid-cooling systems and purportedly cool both the memory chips and the underlying circuit board.
