BioShock 2 to reach PCs, consoles next February

Originally expected in late 2009, the sequel to 2K Games' underwater first-person shooter will finally emerge in February, according to Shacknews. Despite the postponement, gamers can still look forward to a simultaneous triple-platform launch on the PC, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3.

As we told you back in March, the sequel will take place ten years after the first BioShock, and it will have players step into the shoes of the first Big Daddy. The game will allow you to mix "plasmids" and combine them with conventional weapons. More importantly, there will be a multiplayer mode.

Shacknews now says this multiplayer portion has been developed by Digital Extremes, the company that co-developed the Unreal Tournament series with Epic Games and ported the original BioShock to the PlayStation 3.

For some teaser action, check out this eight-minute gameplay clip of BioShock 2's single-player hosted at Shackvideo. GameTrailer is also hosting a shorter multiplayer teaser.
