After a brief bout of pre-order exclusivity last week, Valve has now made its Left 4 Dead 2 demo available to the general public. As Shacknews reports, the PC demo is a free download on Steam, and console users with Xbox Live Gold subscriptions can grab the 360 version on the Xbox Live Marketplace.
The demo takes players a couple of levels through the multiplayer zombie shooter's The Parish campaign, which is set on a late New Orleans afternoon following an undead outbreak. Players can try single-player or cooperative multiplayer, but that's it—no Versus or other game modes. On the flip side, you do get to slice through packs of zombies (not to mention new "super-infected" monsters) with a machete. Oh yes.
On the PC, the Left 4 Dead 2 demo takes up a relatively hefty 3.64GB, so folks with bandwidth quotas and slow connections might want to think twice. The full game is still coming out on the 17th for both the PC and Xbox 360.
