Asrock's dual socket wonder bridges the gap
COMPUTEX One of the more interesting motherboards on display at the show is the ASROCK K8 Combo board showing in the SiS booth.
As you can see, the K8 Combo has two sockets, one Socket 754 style and the other Socket 939. Obviously, the board is designed to ward off obsolesence during AMD's transition from one socket type to another. DIMM sockets are mounted next to each socket, with a pair of DIMMs for dual-channel operation next to the Socket 939. The board also has a pair of PCI-E X1 slots, an AGP slot, and a pair of PCI slotstruly a beast of transition.
