In addition to launching its dual-core Opteron processors, AMD has also detailed its dual-core desktop plans. The dual-core desktop chip will be known as the Athlon 64 X2 and be available in the following models:

AMD will continue to push its single-core Athlon 64 FX chip until games become more multi-threaded. An Athlon 64 FX-57 at 2.8GHz is expected to arrive in late June.
