Western Digital has joined the half terabyte club. The company's Caviar SE16 is now available in a 500GB capacity, complete with 16MB of cache, and support for 300MB/s transfer rates and Native Command Queuing. The drive appears to use four 125GB platters, which would make it quite a bit different from the 250GB Caviar SE16 we reviewed last year. 500GB Caviar SE16s are currently only available through Western Digital's web site, where they sell for $350 and are scheduled to ship January 31.
