Forum software selection

What made you select phpbb over the other forum options "out there"? I'm going through a selection process for some forum software myself and I'm currently favoring http://www.vbulletin.com. I'm interested in learning why other form operators made the selections they did as well as how they like the software they are using.
I have been using UBB for a while now, but I'm about to make a switch.
