Some 12 year old barrel aged rum. Molasses, toffee, oak, and subtle spicy notes; pleasantly warming without being hot or harsh. This is very nice!

I think I could really get into dark, oak-aged rums if there are more of them like this. (And if Milo Burke is reading this, I hate to say it but I like the above-linked rum a lot better than the Mount Gay Black that you recommended on the TRBBQ thread.)

With lunch, I had a small amount (maybe 20 ml) of Compass Box Hedonism scotch. The work in front of me today is, without question, the most crackpot document I have ever seen in 12 years as a technical translator - were I not bound first by ethics and second by NDA, I would be sharing the most mind-haltingly stupid statements I have ever seen purported as truth within an ostensibly factual document.

Rule of thumb, folks: if you're citing a "journal of spiritualism" as relevant literature, you're doing it wrong.

I must continue working. More scotch will be consumed this evening, as I continue to work but after my son has gone to bed.

Seriously, this thing hurts my brain more than the Star Wars Holiday Special, and that required significant amounts of alcohol to survive.

(I'm somewhat amused by the fact that Revolution is actually trying to start a backlash against the backlash against excessively strong IPAs...)

Just finished a homemade AeroPress coffee, and am already thinking about what kind of coffee to have at lunchtime. You could say I have a caffeine problem, but it doesn't hurt anyone and it brings me real, meaningful joy.

Ick. I've tried several different kinds of sparkling water type beverages, but can't get used to any of them. You'd expect it to be the logical replacement for pop, but apparently not.

It may depend on how you feel about unsweetened beverages in general. If you miss the carbonation, but don't mind the lack of sweetness, yeah it's a logical replacement.

I do miss the carbonation actually, but apparently the CO2 by itself has a slightly off-putting taste (to me at least), which is masked by the sugar in pop. If they sold pop with only 25% of the usual sugar it would probably work, but for whatever reason it seems to be an all-or-nothing thing (I don't like "diet" anything).

Celestial Seasonings English Breakfast Tea in a K-Cup Pod + a teaspoon of organic non-bleached sugar cane, the sugar I'm using can be found at Costco.

Celestial Seasonings® English Breakfast Tea

Edit: I was wrong using this: Florida Crystals® Organic Cane Sugar 6 Ib Pouch
It would take you 2,363 continuous hours or 98 days,11 hours, and 35 minutes of gameplay to complete your Steam library.
In this time you could travel to Venus one time.

Rogue Sriracha Stout

Surprisingly good (my expectations for this were not high). Roasty and bittersweet, with a subtle heat that isn't apparent on the first sip, but which gradually becomes apparent over the next minute or so.

Sure. I just post mostly about beer in this thread, since it is a lot more interesting than La Croix or Diet Mountain Dew (which comprise the majority of my liquid intake when I'm working)!

As far as other alcoholic beverages go, I occasionally partake of hard cider, rum, Bourbon, and Scotch... but beer's my main recreational drink.

Deschutes Pinedrops IPA

Something more normal than the Sriracha beer!

Better balance than your typical "west coast" IPA, IMO. Some sweet malt, lots of citrusy/resiny hop flavor (but not vegetal/grassy), and bitter enough to let you know it's an IPA, but not to the point of being astringent. Very nice.

Edit: OK, snuck a shot of Glenmorangie in there too. Decent -- yet affordable -- single-malt Scotch.
