Sam Adams Black Lager. It was a toss up between that, or the last of the Winter Lager's in my case of Sam Adams Winter Collection.

O'Fallon Smoked Porter. Cheating on my diet. Already. And I've only been on it for a week.

But I haven't eaten a speck of deep-fried food, my consumption of sugar and other "empty" carbs (white bread, white rice, potatoes) is down, I've been eating more fruit and veggies, and I've been having a small bowl of old-fashioned oatmeal (made with low-fat milk and nothing else) for breakfast every morning. All that has gotta count for something! (Right?) :D

OTOH, the homebrew club's Christmas party is on Thursday. That's gonna be a big cheat...

Yes, I quite enjoyed the SA Winter Collection this year. Cheers! :D

I'd say the cutback on fried foods and simple sugars has to count for quite a bit.

Target-branded Robitussin. Having a side-splitting cough for 5 days straight is painful. Let's hope it's gone before I start work on Thurs.

Some aussie Merlot. Inexpensive, but goes nice with pasta.

I am completely in love with this year's collection. The Winter Lager is amazing, and I suck down the Holiday Porter like it was water. Not to mention, the Cranberry Lambic really impressed me.

That's what I'm hoping.

Telling someone of Japanese ancestry that they aren't supposed to eat white rice just ain't right though... :-?

After the holidays, I'm embarking on a quest to incorporate oats into my homebrew. It turns out that the "heart healthy" element of whole oats -- soluble fiber, a.k.a. beta-glucans -- likely carries over into beers made with oats, and is at least partially responsible for the smooth, creamy texture of the one existing traditional oat beer style, Oatmeal Stout. I figure if it works in Stout, I should be able to do Oat Pale Ale, Oat Amber Ale, Oat Brown Ale, etc... the possibilities are almost endless. If I can drink beer to reduce my cholesterol, that would be a wonderful thing! :D

20 ounce Dr. Pepper in a plastic bottle. Haven't had one in a while.

You would become my new personal God if you could make a pizza that makes you lose weight.

Just finished a Diet Dr. Pepper. Tasted like crap.

I don't drink diet sodas, but it was the only soda in the fridge, and I'm way to lazy right now to make some Kool Aid or something.

Dr. Brown's Black Cherry Soda.

Don't usually keep beer around in the house. I prefer it on tap at my favorite ale house.

Just don't take too much. Dextromethorphan Hydrobromide is a disassociative anesthetic in high doses (taken alone; fatal combined with certain anti-histamines). Just stay under 1mg/KG body weight on a given day to avoid delirium.

Yup, the Winter Lager is nice. I really liked the Holiday Porter too; I wish they would sell that year-round! The Cranberry Lambic is decent; perhaps a bit short on traditional Lambic character (IMO should be a bit more sour), but still quite good.

You would become my new personal God if you could make a pizza that makes you lose weight.

Damnit Jim, I'm a brewer, not a pizza chef!

Seriously... that's a pretty tall order. If I could do that, I'd probably be rich beyond my wildest dreams. Realistically, I think the best you could hope for is a beer that mitigates (in some small way) the negative impact of all the fat and cholesterol in pizza.

As diet sodas go, Dr Pepper isn't that bad.

I drink way too much diet soda; it's my primary caffeine source. I'm trying to transition myself to unsweetened iced tea instead.

As a liquid Dr Pepper sucks, let alone as a drink. I'm not supprised that the diet version is bad.

JBI = teh aZn? Never would have guessed. The Internet really is colorblind!

That oatbeer sounds intriguing. Call me up for the cross-country roadtrip when you get some together, eh?
