Kick-off a long Friday night:
    16oz red plastic cup
    Filled with ice, preferably crushed
    2 Shots Jack Daniel's
    1 Shot Jack Daniel's Fire
Fill to brim with this morning's left-over cold coffee.

just had a little bit of Three Floyds Zombie Dust. Caught in a trade for some wine, the bottle was quickly poured and drunk. Yep, delicious! The smell was exceptional, mouthfeel was exceptional, and the taste was exceptional. I never thought I'd get a chance to taste a Three Floyds beer in my life, but miracles do happen. Extremely grateful to my host.

Brass tacks, however, it was similar to a Pliny the Elder, though quite a bit more depth of grain. Excellently balanced though, and would absolutely recommend it.

Cheers!

Pliny is hoppier (if it is fresh) and stronger than Zombie Dust... but both are excellent beers!

I am fortunate to live close enough to visit Three Floyds' brewpub occasionally; they're just a couple of miles off of I-80 as you cross into Indiana. Whenever we travel to points east we try to stop there for lunch or dinner. There are typically several "one off" beers on the menu that you can't get in bottles.

Not technically RIGHT NOW, but tonight will be either Sierra Nevada IPA or Blue Moon White IPA. Both are fantabulous.

John J. Bowman Virginia Straight Bourbon Whiskey.

Wife and I toured the distillery (A. Smith Bowman) a few weeks back. Well worth the trip, they make good stuff. If you're ever in the Fredericksburg VA area it's worth a stop.

Hop Salad from the Forked River Brewing Company. It's a nice session pale ale with lots of hops but without too much bitterness.

Just finished a test sample (still warm and a little under-carbonated) of a home-brewed Bourbon barrel aged Imperial Stout that was done as a collaboration with several other homebrew club members. This is something like 5 years old now; it was way too hot and boozy when it was young but has become something quite delicious now. I should probably bottle it... my share of it is still sitting in a 5 gallon soda keg in my basement. I'm taking roughly a quart of it (chilled and with a little extra carbonation forced into it) to tomorrow's (well actually today's now...) homebrew club meeting.

Finishing off the evening (morning?) with a Lagunitas Sucks. (And no, it doesn't suck!)

I can second that one doesn't suck. Lagunitas has one of their breweries about 20 minutes from here. :P

I've been to the Chicago one. Very impressive! I'm a little miffed that they sold out to Heineken, but like my employment situation, I guess time will tell whether this was a good move or not.

Funny thing is, they're looking for a front end developer right now. Even though they're only asking for one year experience I considered applying just because the posting said I'd get a free case of beer every month.

TBH it's hard to be sympathetic. Hoppy beer for breakfast... what did you expect?

Well, we've established that you're not a hophead. Those of us with the disease could shotgun a Heady Topper at 7 AM and exclaim, "now that's a breakfast".

EDIT: On point, since batty-ass MiL is about to arrive for a delayed Turkey Day, I've moved to Dewars (it was on sale this week).

I'd go for something with more malt backbone than an IPL though. Some IPLs border on hop tea, and that's not something I think I'd want to drink on an empty stomach!

Start with the name blends, i.e. JW Red/Black (Black has much more peat), Chivas, and Dewars. Once you've got a handle on those it's time to hit the single malts. Once you get there, you'll find that single malts are the #2 Internet obsession behind silly cat pictures.

Laphroaig 10 if you want to jump straight in the deep end. I think it's wonderful, but lots of people hate it and think it tastes like gym socks left in a fishing trawler's bilge.

Lagunitas Brown Shugga.

Never would have guessed it was 9.9%, and yeah... this is totally PUI.
