Sadly, Alaskan is not distributed to Illinois. They get it up in Wisconsin though; so whenever I'm up that way I stock up on Alaskan and New Glarus.
Edit: Having a Great Lakes Rye of the Tiger. Just discovered that I still had a bottle of this left from a couple of months ago. Hops have already faded a bit, but still quite nice.

Yesterday I had some Michelob Ultra Pomegranate Raspberry that my grandmother had picked up. I was not impressed - it was like drinking somewhat flavored water.
Recently I've also had some Dang That's Good Butterscotch Root Beer. It is indeed good, and IMO better than their standard root beer.

Had a Green Flash Imperial last night, 'twas good. Tonight, with carbonara sauce pasta, a glass or three of Fetzer Valley Oaks Cabernet Sauvignon.

The Steelhead was good, drsauced. I was about 10 miles from the Mad River brewery when I ordered that draft. Tonight, I found no local breweries in the middle of the forest, so I had a Fat Tire.

Like yin and yang, eh?
I tend to prefer beers that are more towards the hoppy/bitter side, but sweet/malty -- especially when balanced by enough hops to make it bittersweet -- can be fantastic too.

Last night was some Arctic Saison from Grassroots, my first experience with Hill Farmstead leaving me pretty damned impressed. Tonight I'm about to go load up on Trestles from Left Coast while watching the Wildcats trounce lesser competition.
