Animator vs Animation (IV)* . Three or four minutes in it gets geek-ily great.

*A New Hope, I guess

I have got to get me one of these, and yes, the music fits perfectly.

Now to dig a deep cylindrical hole in my yard.

Cash Cow!
http://youtu.be/wNlymFe2DcM

From the Valley of the Shadow of the Outlet Mall
To the customized pet-wear boutique
From the trailer of the fry chef to the palace of the sheik
The Cash Cow lurks, the Cash Cow lurks

Woe to you, proud mortal! Secure in your modest digs
You think you're immune? You, who couldn't finger said cow in a police line-up with the three little pigs?

Cash Cow, Master of Disguises
Who's gonna change shape at will?
Who's the eye in the pyramid on the back of the dollar bill?
Who loves power lunching from Spago to Sizzler?
Guess who's coming to dinner?

I, too, was hypnotized by those big cow eyes
The last time I uttered those three little words
"I deserve better!"
You don't have to feel safe to feel unafraid.

My favorite Neil Young (i.e. no Crazy Horse, no CSN, just Neil) tune from the massive and glorious mess known as The Last Waltz. Joni in the background doesn't hurt one bit.

It's all about the soundtrack. And the timing.

Holy crap: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eJNAx4BsUtE

Tragically, at least 21 people lost their lives in this crash. Two people in the vehicle struck by the wing of the plane were also injured.

Not a good week for me for attributions (ugh). The FDR data will be interesting in this case.

EDIT: News reports talk about a "flameout" in a Mayday call, but any twin-engine civil airliner won't get certified unless it can fly and gain altitude with one engine out.

Not really a sidenote, IMO... I'm sure it was a big part of the motivation for making that video!

Does the sound of this video make you want to drive like a hooligan? At 2:00 and at 3:28, they're running 140 mph at 8½ thousand rpm.

I don't really like much music when it comes down to it, my ears are very touchy about what they like hitting them. I usually like unnecessarily complicated stuff. There's something about these guys though. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jhgVu2lsi_k

I'll throw in the slideshow I made with Blender, for that "Ken Burnes Effect", using "import images as planes". It would have turned out better, if I'd known at the time to turn off mipmapping...

Richard Hammond (of the "real" Top Gear) running through the Gunpowder Plot of 1605, a/k/a what brought about Guy Fawkes Night in the UK. Good bits start around minute 52 (unless you want the history, like me), and that was a pretty big kaboom.

Teary-eyed nostalgia time. Michael J. Fox has been battling early-onset Parkinson's for years now, yet he was able to jam this out last night on stage with Coldplay. Good on ya mate, and thanks to Doc Brown.
