I've always thought having Stevie Ray Vaughan play guitar on his Let's Dance album was a stroke of genius as well -- another one of those improbable combinations that "just works".
Edit: Great example
here - the album version of the song "Cat People". So much better than the movie soundtrack version. IMO SRV's guitar playing turns a good song into a great song.

Of the "modern" Bowie output Let's Dance is the high point. When it came out everyone remarked on the guitar lead, which clearly wasn't Mick Ronson (Original Bowie guitarist, latterley Mott The Hoople), but it took a few years and SRV's own fame before it was known he was the guitar lead on that album.
JBI: You turned me onto Djam Karet. I'm going to return the favor with Nektar. All of their meaningful albums (pre-1977) are available on Amazon.

I'm not sure if this little series has been shared or mentioned on TR recently. Its a pretty cool Star Wars "Mocumentary". Its called I.M.P.S. The Relentless. I've never seen "Troops" but I'm told these are the same guys, so it could kind of be considered Troops 2. They have Peter Cullen (Voice of Optimus Prime) doing their narrations. I mean holy crap, for a labor of love as the main VFX guy puts it, that's pretty cool to land some real talent like that for this project. They also hand make all of their own Storm Trooper armor, which looks to be top notch quality, indistinguishable from what you'd see in the movies.
Anyhow, I've noticed that the second chapter was a huge leap over the first, and the third one is going to be out soon so I'm really excited to see what it has to offer. The VFX works are pretty pro for the small team of 1 guy (They now have 2 guys for the next chapters). They are hoping to raise enough money for their VFX work so that they can start to release these chapters faster and in higher quality (which is already pretty damn high). I'd recommend that any Star Wars or Troops fans take a look at this project, cool stuff!
The guys are trying to raise some funds for their project, take a look at the video on their Indiegogo page. There is some bad ass swag up as perks for contributors too.

Very nice. I would've probably preferred a sparser arrangement, but given the occasion I can understand why they felt they needed to add all the strings etc.
Have you heard the new Heart album "Fanatic" yet? (I have not, but it is in the house somewhere; I got my wife a copy for Christmas, she's been a fan since their very first album.)

EDIT: Even better: The dog is deaf. Not a chance given how he's getting his groove on.
