I'll let it cool down then pop it open. If it was a cap it was a big one based on the smoke cloud. Been wanting a new amp anyways, so now have spousally-acceptable reason.

Have an NAD CD deck and have always had a soft spot for NAD gear. We used NAD power amps in the fraternity sound system and they would take the most awful abuse without question.

Double ugh. Now the car is throwing a code (P0304, Cylinder 4 misfire). It's clear at idle that I'm down 1 cylinder but it goes away as the RPMs ramp up. Crappy weekend for hardware here at home. Looks like I'll be driving the backup car until mine goes to the dealer.

And both of these hardware failures happen in the same week as I'm having work done on the house and the 1st installment of property taxes is due.

From what I can see online, that Carver Cube looks like it would be quite fun to repair. Straightforward analog setup and not a lot of layout complexity.

some turd is trying to bump their post count to qualify for Warsam's giveaway. He's responding to decade-old threads not realizing they get bumped to the front page.

I kind of with SS and Warsam had used a date metric instead of post count. It would prevent such shennanigans, and would give a chance for the comment-only crowd to win (since they are still part of the community).

I can see that, but I can also see how he wanted someone who has contributed to forum discussions to win rather than someone who just trolls commenters on the front page. The people who meaningfully contribute on the FP also tend to meaningfully contribute in the forums.

I wish I could see his face when he gets banned and all the posts nuked in one click (which I'm assuming can happen).

My guess is he'll finish and leave the forum never to return, and may never find out whatever fate awaits him.

True. Either way, posting in every thread one can find is pretty annoying for people who follow the active threads, and I believe it counts as spamming (although a mod would have to weigh in on that).

I only reported one. I had a feeling that was plenty.

Probably should have been something like 100 posts AND was a member as of a certain date prior to the giveaway being announced. This turd joined today so he wouldn't qualify.

That would definitely help.

Don't be dangling this in the face of kids who saw Star Wars in the original run at age 13 (in 1977 there were no episode numbers or titles, it was just bloody "Star Wars") and not follow through given what The Neckbeard has done to them since then. If anyone can get it done, it'll be The Mouse. If they do it, and do it well, I might have to take back some untoward statements.

Why do dill pickle flavored potato chips contain whey powder as an ingredient?

Whey is also used in the production of regular dill pickles, and other vegetable fermentation. I couldn't tell you why though.

Probably to help the flavouring stick to the chip & so they can put a number in the protein section of the nutrition information.

Those "crew rest" bunks look pretty swanky, especially given the space they're squeezed into above the main cabin.

Swanky, as long as you have no claustrophobia issues of course. Great privacy too.

Not quite an etihad residence though. I don't know how the flight crew manages without a butler.

Only £12,813.76 / $21,274.04 for a 7 hour flight.

second passenger flies free (except taxes)! What a bargain! None of that one person per bunk shenanigans either - double beds all around.

Another week out in the hotel in the far SE corner of VT. The only good point this week is that the NH liquor stores have a handle of Dewar's on sale for $29.99

Tomorrow's dinner will be a large pepperoni grinder (12" sub roll, sauce, about 1 lb of pizza pepperoni, a pile of mozz, and run it through the oven) from my favorite Greek-run pizza place in Brattleboro, VT.

Can anyone explain how the US pizza business, at least in the rural areas, became dominated by the Greeks instead of the Italians?

In the Chicago area I'd say a pretty large percentage of restaurants in general (Asian food excluded) are Greek-owned.

RIP Jaws.

Richard Kiel died today. Let's hope that he got it on with his nerdy blonde GF on Drax's space station while retrieving the Golden Jacket from Shooter McGavin. I'll forget that he brought along the cookbook "To Serve Man".
