Well, rebooting is a whole lot less complex, and don't get me started on the in-line patching requirements.

In case you didn't know, there's a new live-action Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie in the works. Due to all of the recent comic book and cartoon movies, this probably doesn't comes as a surprise to many. Normally, I would be super excited. Then I heard that Michael Bay was attached, and I immediately gave up all hope. Today, my reasoning was justified.

Micahel F*cking Bay wrote:“When you see this movie, kids are going to believe one day these turtles actually do exist when we are done with this movie,” said Bay as he took the stage to discuss his new vision for the reptilian reboot. “These turtles are from an alien race, and they are going to be tough, edgy, funny and completely loveable.

Apparently the new movie will be simply called Ninja Turtles. So....they're aliens and not mutants. Hell, they're not even turtles. Would I be wrong in guessing that they're not teenagers either, hence the lack of the word "Teenage" in the title?

I really, REALLY hope Michael Bay is trolling us. Source.

Ya, my wife sent me the article yesterday. He triumphed in his last effort to ruin my childhood with Transformers Dark of the Moon, and now he's attacking me from another angle. Die in a fire, Michael Bay.

Totally awesome. My wife has only seen IV and it's been long enough that she doesn't remember any of it. Gonna have to track me down some Blu Rays I guess.

I've purchased the trilogy on VHS (original and special), Laserdisc (three different editions), and DVD (twice).

After the crappy 'bonus DVD' original trilogy debacle, I swore off Star Wars on video until such time as a quailty theatrical edition was released. The latest changes in the Blu-ray edition further solidifed that feeling for me.

So, yeah. I hold no moral qualms whatsoever about investigating the de-specialized editions further.

I'd really like to get my hands on the Despecialized Editions. I also think that viewing all of the movies in the Machete Order is a really damn good idea. Perhaps watching the Machete Order with the Despecialized Editions is the way to go.

What, you didn't like how he turned Optimus Prime into a cold-blooded, vengeance-seeking killer? Or was it the part where they made Starstream spit oil and filth out of his mouth every time he spoke? Maybe the fact that they made Sentinel Prime a complete douchebag?

I can't understand how any of that would piss you off.

I do have a confession to make: aside from what happened to Jazz I really did like the first Bay Transformers movie.

But ya, the atrocities of the 2nd and 3rd movies should be considered war crimes. Everything you wrote and more, Vrock.

I spent a little time with Star Wars (*not* A New Hope, but *Star Wars*) today.

Impressive. Most impressive. This is not a hackjob. I'm not going to lie and tell you its perfect, as given the condition of the sources out there it's not. There are brief instances where you can tell that older sources have been used to 're-create' the scenes that George Lucas edited. From what I've seen so far, though, these instances are short. There are some other inconsistencies in the video where it appears that it goes from a HD source to a SD source, but those are even less jarring and people with 40" or smaller TVs probably won't notice. I was viewing on a 55" LCD. There are also some occasional compression artifacts, which given the fact that these are 720p videos crammed onto a DVD-9, is unavoidable and understandable. Even AVC compression can only do so much. Again, I didn't find them overly distracting. It will be interesting to see how ESB looks, especially on Dagobah with all the fog.

The really good: the guy who made these corrected color and contrast on the whole deal, so the crushed blacks and bluish whites that we got with the 2004 DVDs are gone. The Han/Greedo scene is near perfect. The subtitles are in the viewable area and aren't player generated, just as they should be. Mos Eisley is free of 'comic relief' droids, walking dinosaurs, and Jawas. The Wolfman is back in the Cantina. Etc. And it looks good, much better than anything else out there I've seen.

If you're an old, curmudgeony Star Wars fan like me who can't understand why George refuses to release the theatrical editions while continuing to tinker with his accidental masterpiece, then fire up google and download these.

I've gotta find these. I usually avoid gray-market stuff but crap, I'm sick of this bs with the star wars movies.

On an unrelated note--holy crap, how did society let pregnancy get so complicated? if it was as hard to bring a baby to term as the medical industry acts like, we'd have been extinct a long time ago. Eat this, don't eat this, change this this and this, avoid booze, soda, any of this long list of foods, oh, don't forget to buy XYZ and ABC too, you'll need those, holy crap.

Super easy to find. I hear you about the gray market stuff, I avoid it like the plague usually. But I look at this more as a fan edit of a series of films I've owned on multiple formats, so I don't have any qualms myself. Maybe I'm being dishonest or inconsistent, but for some reason, I just don't care in this case. :D

Eh...many couples experience at least one miscarriage before they carry one to term. It's not at all uncommon, especially in the first 8 weeks. I think we're just more aware of it now than we used to be.

And OB-GYNs are always looking over their shoulders waiting for a process server to show up. Any more is R&P bait.

Nowruz has been the official New Years Day in Iranian culture since Achaemenid times (IOW since a long time ago).

I'd use a 4-letter acronym, but I have to be nice.

Understood. But what does Annabel (white female, non-Persian, living in Scotland and not of any Iranian culture) have to do with celebrating this holiday?

Maybe you should discuss that with Bel.

She's mentioned before that she's part Iranian. Also, Persians are classified as Caucasian, IIRC.

Are there seriously people in the world stupid enough to fall for these things?

I just got an e-mail (that made it past a couple of levels of spam filtering due to the content actually being a JPEG attachment) claiming to be from Western Union. The gist of it is that pursuant to a directive from the IMF, they are paying out compensation to scam victims worldwide... and hey, the IMF has somehow identified me as a victim of a past scam!

Leaving aside for a moment the question of why the IMF would be investigating Internet scams in the first place, all I need to do to claim my $500,000 is e-mail my personal information and a copy of my ID to a Korean e-mail address!

Yes. It's those same "dads" that don't know how to use Windows 8. They fall for scams like that.
