Dang it! When this thread popped up again I thought there'd be some pictures (prOn).

Well, guess I'll step up.

Just go look on page 5 and 6 for some pix of my pretty baby. :-)

Is that Rock Island Arsenal a 1911? Is it made in the "Colt style", where you could drive a truck between the barrel and the slide, and if you put a finger on the slide you could shoot in a different direction each time?

Still, that's pretty cool. I grew up in a city next to the Rock Island Arsenal. It's pretty sweet seeing a gun made there show up in the hands of an enthusiast.

That shotgun looks outstanding. I just very recently picked up a .30-06 bolt action Sako rifle. It's pretty nice. :D

I have a thing for historical guns...they're a blast.

My experience with the M1 Carbine has not been at all positive. Maybe my dad & I got a weak example, but the damn thing smokestack jams at least once per magazine load.

This one is actually a new production replica made by Kahr Arms. They've gotten some decent reviews and the local store had one at a reasonable price, so...

Don't have a digital camera, but I feel quite proud of my type 94 nambu 8mm, taken off a dead Jap on Okinawa in WWII.

Here's a pic of a type 94, although mine was made slightly earlier, in 1935.

My interest in historical arms isn't too related to their functionality; I just like to see the old designs in action. It's sorta the same reason I get a kick out of gutting and rebuilding old original Pentium machines. Although the Garand and AK's are a freaking blast to shoot as well...

Me too. I bought my Swiss K31 in part because I wanted to play with a straight-pull bolt action.

I kinda think I want a GI 1911A1 to go with it. I like Auto-Ordnance's replica very much. The Springfield Armory one is nice too, but it's less authentic looking.

They can still be had for less than a hundred bucks if you look around. The carbines kick like a mule though, not much fun to shoot. :)

They're not so bad if you invest in a butt pad. My Limbsavers pad is great. I barely feel the recoil from my M44 carbine, and it was only about $25.

The Carbine is a shooter. Popped its cherry on a 25 yard indoor range today and killed lots of paper Nazis. There were no survivors, and most died within seconds of being shot.

I didn't have any stovepipes/smokestacks while breaking in the gun. I had two rounds fail to feed properly from the mag on the first magazine full, which I attribute to the magazine not being broken in yet. The other 48 rounds fed and ejected perfectly. I still need to put about 150 more rounds thru the gun before I declare it "broken in", but it seems to be functioning well and has very good accuracy for a mil-spec rifle.

That's one of the better-looking Kalashnikovs I've seen. What nationality is it?

It was a very inexpensive Romanian WASR 10-GP. Bottom of the barrel stuff, but it has functioned flawlessly. I just refinished the furniture.

7.62x39 vs 7.62x51. Since far too much of the x39 ammo comes with Berdan primers and is thus unreloadable (yes, I know, but it's still way too much of a hassle), I'll stick with the FN FAL. Been a while since the Rock Chucker & I have had a tussle.

Heh. Reach out an iTouch someone. :)

I'm not sure how it's better than the cheap & easy BDCs that don't require batteries, but whatever.
