Shot for the first time in months today. I brought this gun out. It's a S&W Model 10-8. I picked it up a couple years back for $200. It was missing most of its finish, but mechanically it was excellent. I assume it was an old cop gun. I finally got around to having it refinished (went with parkerizing for economy) and it came out nicely. Shoots great, has a really good double action trigger.

Lee may make nice reloading equipment but their documentation on assembly flat out sucks. There isn't even a labeled parts list in the damn box for this thing :-? I don't know if that's normal or if mine was just messed up.

What are you trying to put together? There's videos and tips on their website.

Lee Classic Turret with the powder dispenser. I got it off their website, it was just weird to see such a lack of documentation from a major manufacturer.

I'm still deciding if I want to mount it right to the workbench or a bit of lumber. I don't have any the right size but someone around me probably does.

That thing. I've also got

Coming in.

The reloading press came with a balance scale but frankly the thing seems like a pain, looking to upgrade it already

The balance scale is a little tricky to adjust but works very well. The powder measure you link to must be a newer product, interesting.

Installed a new free float tube on my scoped AR today. Super easy, no indexing required for the gas tube. Torqued to 35 ft lbs and called it a day. At some point I need to spend a little money on a better trigger vs the mil-spec it has now.

I know Giselles are nice but damn, 200+ on just the trigger! I'm looking to see if there's a good trigger available that doesn't break 50 or 60 bucks.

You won't find one. If you search hard you can find stuff in the sub $150 range that's decent, but anything less than that you're not going to get much for your money. Also it's not just a trigger, it's more like a trigger pack. It includes the hammer, the trigger, and the disconnector.

I've had really good luck with the Rock River Arms 2-Stage trigger. I personally love a 2-stage, but it may not be right for everyone. And at $85, it was well worth the price.

There are other options available, of course.

I was all set to buy one a year or so back, but read several reviews about the trigger wearing out, and turning into a scarily light single stage job without warning. Thoughts?

I had not seen anything like that when I did my research. I'm certainly going to be looking out for it now.
How many cycles would it take to wear down the steel? Damn.

Well, you know how the internet is, but the ones I saw were saying a couple thousand rounds. I dunno. For $85 though, that's a deal.

I did a bad bad thing. Pictures to follow when I pick it up from my new favorite local shop since the last one went under.

My dreams of a 357 lever gun won't be dreams much longer :D If this one works well, I plan to try to get a pair of 16" ones for both my kids for when they're older. I figure teach them on my .22, then give them a 357 lever rifle when I think they're ready; low recoil, usable for life for various things, fun to shoot...

I didn't get the GP100 I really wanted but I got the Heritage; it was at an LGS for 150. Has both cylinders :D I don't think I've shot 22 mag before

Image

Also got a 20 gauge pump since I can't handle 12 gauge anymore. Mossberg 500 Bantam (youth) model; with the plug out it's 5+1, quick to shoulder. I'm debating a red dot

My lever action'll be a while coming in. Boo :( But at least I can break these two in.

Oh and

Basic plane jane AR 15 with vortex strikefire on it. Just in case I can't come 2017 ya know? Looks tiny next to my MMR

to replace the one I regretted selling

I'm broke as hell now, no guns for ages for me.

EDIT: what's with the imugur link not working?

+1 for the Vortex Strikefire. I have a Strikfire II.

You should add a 45 degree mount and a Red dot too. For those CQB situations. Vortex sells both at reasonable prices. :P (Shameless plug)

Took all those out today (had comp time, took it today instead of Friday so the range was deserted).

Holy hell, that little .22 is the most fun I've had with a gun in years. Now I need a bigger version. In 357. Or .44. :D I didn't really test too much for accuracy, just rang 5" steel targets at ranges from probably closer than safe to about 25 yards. I've never used sights like these so the first few were a pretty bad, but after I got used to it, I went almost perfect over about 150 rounds.

Did 100 rounds (about 70 bird, 30 buck) through the shotgun to familiarize myself, but it was stupid to do that much at once. I was flinching so badly I might as well not have even tried with my AR, and I couldn't even do jack with my Howa I brought out--and I'm usually doing 2" groups with that one, but damn, I was all over the place the few rounds I tried. My shoulder and chest are already bruised and a bit swollen too.

The Bersa was fun; kinda don't like the squishy grips though, may replace. Only did about 20 rounds.

Also brought my Rock Island 1911 out. Still my favorite handgun; 5" steel at 25 yards, no problem. I should buy it a friend if I win the lottery.

what the hell has happened to 357 ammo availability? And .22 WMR? I can buy .22 LR all day long but even online WMR is kinda scarce. And 357...I see either pricey self defense 125 grain loads or a ton of 158 grains. I went ahead and got 150 rounds of 158 grain American Eagle semi-jacketed hollow points for it in preperation for this upcoming Saturday--meeting a friend in NM and we're going to shoot till we don't want to shoot anymore, then all of both our families are gonna go get stuffed on green chili cheeseburgers.

Ammo manufacturers are cranking out .223, .45, and 9mm like no tomorrow, because that's where the demand is. They only run the less popular calibers at certain times of the year, so they are scarce and therefore prices high. My last LGS had .357 for like $28 a box for the cheap stuff. Even .38 Special is no longer an economical round to shoot, unless you reload.

I picked up a Yugoslav (or Serbian, if you prefer) O-pap rifle a while back (top; the bottom is my JRA AKM built on a Polish parts kit). The thing is built like a tank, with the thick RPK receiver, barrel, and trunnion. It shoots very well, but was lacking a rear sling swivel. Seems the military models (the Yugo M70) had a sling swivel attached to the receiver, but the civilian export models don't. Military style rifles without a sling are an anathema to me, so I had to do something. I wasn't about to cut into my receiver, so I decided to inlet the stock and install a sling swivel. I won't win any woodworking prizes, but the job is done and looks reasonably decent. I had a surplus Yugo AK sling already, so we're all set for humping the brush now. :)
