That powerbook commercial is a riot! Would that qualify as "lappy" envy?

Yeah, like the website that refers to 76 FPS on Quake III on the G4 15" powerbook (1024x768) as "screaming" or "blistering" or whatever. I laughed my ass off. Maybe that's decent for a laptop, but that ain't screaming on anything.

And yeah, they're poor 'cause they just spent their last 3 months' pay on one, and because they don't have games.

I guess they have to do something while PC guys are playing games. I feel bad for them though, all the great games they are missing.

Which games would that be?

We have the entire Quake series, MoH, Unreal and UT (with UT2k3 coming), etc.

They may come out a bit late, but Mac gamers do get them.

That video is still about the biggest joke around the office here, even after having it for a while. There a lot of great games on the mac, like Warcraft3... that puzzle game with the Apple logo. That's a great game. I beat it, but it's still fun.

Or when he says "photoshop" under his breath. I about died the first time I saw that. Too bad they didn't make a crack about benchmarking 20 pixel diameter gaussian blur filters. Afterall, if I had a Mac I'd be blurring my entire archive of photos cause my PC is WAY too slow to do that.

I must admit, those new powerbooks are damn sexy. But if I had $3300 to blow on a notebook, I'd be buying a loaded Inspiron. The 12" model at $1800 isn't THAT bad, though. At least it has a GF4 MX 420. Good enough to play Zork, breakout... super breakout... photoshop. :-?

I'd get the Alienware with $3300. It mops up the floor with Mac's desktop system, and most PC desktops, too. And it's damn sexy.

Eh, that's about the most loaded comparison I've seen in a long time. How'd a 1.8GHz Dell desktop get stuck in with a 3.06GHz laptop thats about 5-6 times more expensive?

I dunno, I think the guy just said he threw it in for kicks. It still beat the new Mac system in most of the tests he ran, though.

I still want the Alienware.

Now to steal $3300.
