What job (summer/part time) would be good?

Thu Jan 30, 2003 9:15 pm

I'm heading off to college in fall so I figured that I'll get a job. Flipping burgers does not appeal to me, so I was thinking that maybe I can go get some certification or something. The problem is I have no clue where to start and I don't know anything about certification, training, etc. I am looking mainly for a part time job, and a certification that I can get over the summer.
Thanks.

youd prob be hard pressed to fine a tech type job for what your looking for. you might want to try any local colleges and see if they need any extra help (lab monitor, etc)

but, if you actually want to make some $ go work in construction during the summer...you get paid tons
Your bargaining posture is highly dubious.

most people dont :)
if its a big project they usually just put you somewhere doing something thats easy that no one wants to do.

tech support? local isp's usually hire, not sure about just for the summer though.

ya, but what cert, if any, will i need for tech support. from experience i can say that they probably dont even need to know what a comp is, but maybe i'll go into something more engaging/less frustrating as tech support...

well, for tech support a good first step (besides experience of course) is knowledge of software/hardware in the A+ certification...after that networking (network+).
After that it gets a bit more complicated.
