Winter weather

Apparently there is a significant winter storm moving in. It's been below freezing here all week, so the snow isn't going to melt on contact with the ground, either.

Horrah for real winters!

We're supposed to get freezing rain/sleet/ice/snow tomorrow. Yuck!

Just north of minneapolis they're supposed to get 10" of snow and then half an inch of ice on top.

It got up to 73 in Houston today. I certainly will not miss central Illinois winter weather.

Our governor is a tool. And I voted for him.

I protested and didn't vote for governor. Topinka and General Rod are both equally moronic.

So I volunteered to ring the Sally Army bell in front of Hobby Lobby in Pekin from 10-11 tomorrow morning. That figures. Last year I volunteered and it ended up being the day after the biggest snow of the winter. This year it's in the middle of a predicted storm.

Lol, the weatherman was answering a "do you guarantee the snowfall" question and said "the only parts of the forecast I guarantee are the sunrise and sunset times."
I loled

I hope you didn't vote for him twice at least.

Yeah tomorrow looks like a day to stay home.

Don't you all wish the governator was the head-honcho instead?

Woke up this morning to ice pellets hitting the roof. It keeps changing from ice to rain and back again. The roads are like a hockey rink. I had to go to the mall to buy a present this morning. There were like 3 other people there. It was surreal.

So ringing bells for the Sally Army wasn't so bad...the entrance to Hobby Lobby has a little awning that we could stand under, which kept the rain from landing on my pumpakin head. Still damn cold out there, for as warm as it is (27 degrees with about 215% humidity).

First snow of the year. It's not going to stick, it's not going to be all that cold, but good god has it already done a number on traffic.

Five inches since my last post and still coming down pretty hard. We don't usually get this much snow this early in the winter season here.

Where is here? This winter is looking to be a little more harsh (read: normal) than the last winters in recent memory.

You seem to get whatever "alberta clippers" that come our way. I suppose you're seeing the storm we had yesterday, which gave us about 5 inches as well.

It's 25 degrees here today and the roads were covered this morning, broomed my car off. It will be 50's by the weekend, and 60's on tuesday. WTF.

It's had maybe one semi-harsh week. Up until a week ago we were still stuck in an extended fall. Heck, I was up at my parents' place on the canadian border early last month and they had greener grass in November than then did for all but a few weeks of the spring and summer.

It just usually doesn't come down this far in the state. Columbus Ohio is normally the line between harsh and more mild winters. But I do agree that the last two years have had more snow around here. February is usually our bad month with a lot of ice.

It took until february 1st last year to get as much snow as we have now. Apparently, this is shaping up to be a fairly average winter. To most people, an average minnesota winter is fairly harsh.

It has been really mild here so far. There is a skiff of snow in the mountains and none down in the valleys. Usually this time of year we would be seeing zero or below zero temps. I think the coldest night we have had was 15 degrees. At work yesterday it got up to 40 degrees. I worked outside all day long in just a sweat shirt that just inst right for this time of year.

Forecast calls for 4" of snow here tomorrow. That means we'll get between 0" and 12". Joy.
