They say up to 10" of snow is inbound for tomorrow.

Sigh, time to shovel that shizzle again.

The windstorm yesterday took down 5 trees on my property. :x

Well, Washington State is cut in two. They tried opening I-90 yesterday and had an avalanche take out two cars; as of right now they've officially given up until the snow eases off
Snoqualmie Pass remains closed due to extreme winter conditions from milepost 34 near North Bend to milepost 106 near Ellensburg. The pass will remain closed for at least the next 24 hours. Due to wet, heavier snow, the avalanche threat has increased. Friday, Feb. 1, at 9 a.m. is the earliest WSDOT will be able to assess the effects of this storm and our ability to reopen the pass.
Meanwhile, over on highway 2
Stevens Pass will be closed between milepost 56 to milepost 99, Scenic to Leavenworth, while wreckers remove a pair of semi trucks that slid off the highway on the west side of the summit. Avalanche control is also in progress. Estimated time to open is 6:00 p.m.
Doesn't look fun to be backed up waiting for that.

Still, it's better than bucking -30° before the windchill like it is up in Alberta.

US2 west coming down from Stevens pass is a bitch in a light rain, let alone in a snowstorm.

BTW I am really glad I don't have to deal with mountain weather. Putting chains on in below 0 conditions FTL.

We're supposed to get freezing rain tonight. SWMBO has already decided that she's not going in to work tomorrow so she's going to work from home. My ass, on the other hand, has to go in to the office if I can make it out of my neighborhood.

Ugh, the roads were covered with frozen nasty slippery slush crap this morning.

And the SUVs were speeding, as they always do.

(I slowed down, and even then, with good snow tires, the car was rather twitchy.)

That's because your car doesn't weigh anything. I bet an RX7 wouldn't have any problems

Yup, nearly a foot last night. Getting the car dug out of the driveway this morning was quite a challenge.

Try 2 feet in most of your driveay and a 3 foot drift on the other part  My truck drove right out with no problem. I didnt dare try it in the wifes car though I know she would have got stuck. Had to get the snowblower out and clean it for her to get out.

I don't think Hance has the kind of job where telecommuting is possible.

Speaking of Idaho, my barrista yesterday morning was saying that both her sisters in north Idaho were snowed in. Considering they're having roof collapses there -- and it's not like they're unused to heavy winter weather -- I'd say it must be pretty bad.

It has been a pretty good winter so far. We have had quite a few years with very little snow so this is more like a normal winter than anything. I am in the southest corner of the state so I dont really know how bad the winter has been up around Sand Point. It is probably 600 miles from where I live to Sand Point so that can make a huge difference to the type of winter we are having versus what they are having. The worst winter I can remember was back in 83 or 84 when I was in third grade. We didnt have school for a week and dad had to go to town on his snowmobile to get smokes and milk. When the storm finally let up a road grader with a V blade on it got stuck trying to open up the road that runs past my dads house.

Heh. Close (I don't work on SIPRNet. WMA/CWE all the way, baby!) They're unwilling to build a SCIF in my basement, so no telecommuting for me. :(

It's getting a bit ridiculous. At least I could ride in on my motorcycle yesterday...not really a realistic option when half a foot of snow is incoming, though.

Are you guys from Minnesota? Anywyays, one of the states we forecast for is MN (I am from there too). What a fun storm...My day is interesting. A possible severe weather outbreak for Indiana and the snowstorm from hell in the upper midwest. Spring weather is by far the best weather for a forecaster.

At least the accumulation estimates seem to keep falling. Maybe it'll be less of a big deal than imagined.

It's been beautiful the last few days here in Central Ohio. Great motorcycling weather. This weekend we're supposed to be back to rain/snow mix. I'll have the wood burning stove fired up again this weekend. I have a co-worker who just moved up here from Florida. Needless to say, he's a little baffled by the Ohio weather changes.

I rode my motorcycle to work yesterday. Today the forecast involves something like 6 in of snow.

moisture is not falling, they're just pushing back the time that it turns from rain to snow. Thank god it's not going to be 10-12 inches.
