Before, I:

but now I:

Boom!

Thought I'd hosed it all when I lost the little resistor, but I cannibalized one off the Ti500 that's awaiting warranty replacement, and all was saved.

Forge are you trying to show off and wreck your hardware at the same time? Nothing like showing off you guts and stupidity at the same time!

I'm not sure I would have it in me to take a soldering iron to a $400 GFX card... Especially when you don't really get anything usefull out of it.

'Useful' depends greatly on your point of view.

We all know that you just have to have the newest, fastest, most 1337, etc. But what does doing the Quaddro mod really get you? From speaking to you via IRC, I get the impression that you don't do much in the way of 3D modelling, espcially not professional-caliber 3D modelling (CAD/CAM, video animation ala AutoCAD or Maya). So really, what is the point?

Please skool me, oh 1337 Poobah.

Must be geek factor. Or 'because I can.'

Secret - It's partly 'because I can', and it's also 'maximum usefulness'. I am quite interested in/attempting to teach myself 3D modelling, and there's no point in using sub-optimal tools.

The Quadro is just as fast as the Ti4600 I started with, in games, and it's much faster in some apps. There's no reason not to do the mod, if you don't fear replacement resistors.

Well if that's the case, it certainly makes sense. I wasn't aware of your 3D modelling interests; your 1337ness grows.

Polare, Anapex: quite right, I'd forgotten who'd started this thread.
