Best Buy & MS

Thu May 08, 2003 12:38 pm

Most people don't have much a choice of buying MicroSoft products, because they have to go along with whatever their business uses. We all have a choice when it comes to Best Buy. I stopped shoping there a while ago because evertime I got in there they act as if I'm going to shoplift something, even though I've never shoplifted in my entire life.
Pentium 4, 2.26Ghz, Antec-Case with 330 Watt PWR, 512 MB of 2700 DDR, Geforce3 Ti 200, 60 GB Seagate Barracuda as Primary drive and, 20 GB Western Digital for backups. Running Windows 2000 Pro and Win 98 on dual boot for running older games.

How fast do you think that sales person got fired? You know they just tried to pull a fast one to get a MSN sale but looks like they didn't get away with it.

Anymore, I only go into Best Buy if I need something right away instead of having to wait for it to come in the mail. I never ask for help anymore while I'm there because they hire people with little to no knowledge of computers, TVs, etc. You wind up telling them about a product that they should already have full knowledge of! Then it's like, why did I even ask?

Another thing... Their PC stuff is overpriced and they never get the new games right away or never get the game in stock. I don't think anyone that works there even knows what an RPG is. "RPG what?"

So, get in, get what you need, and get the hell out! And, avoid anyone wearing a blue or yellow BB shirt.

i remember when best buy was doing this. i went to buy a TV and you could get $200 off if you signed up for a year or two years of msn (i forget which).

the sales people made explicitely clear what you were doing though.

My moto for BB is to get in and out fast and stay away from all the help. I do not think I have seen a more clueless group of people than their employees.

speaking of which, I have yet to get some rebates I'm waiting on. I have photo copies of all of my stuff, so they don't give it to me I'll sue!

I have had rebates take up to 2 months or more to get back from BB. They like to keep you waiting as long as possible.

Then there is the fact that BB keeps hardware prices at the original price for months after prices on the street drop. It's insane how long BB kept the Radeon 9700 Pro at $400.

I had a $50.00 mail-in rebate for a monitor that I sent in a over year ago and still haven't seen it. They like to sucker you in with the lower prices until you see the price is "after rebates." Then they don't deliver on them. That, alone, is a scam.
