Today I'm in the '96 Ford F-150. 72K miles and, from a distance, still a looker (up close you can't miss the rust over the fender wells or the very dated blue interior).

I'm still in my '03 S10 ZR2 and plan on staying there until it explodes or the US light truck market stops being so crappy.

(mine is significantly less shiny and has no bug deflector)

Just last weekend I had to try and replace the ball joints on it. 13 years of Michigan rust is makes things... interesting. Two days and many hours cursing and beating the crap out of various parts with an air hammer/chisel, and I had completed just the driver's side set.

This guy:

Just finished turbocharging it and getting it kinda sorta tuned okay (I have a Megasquirt I built running it). Running 16 PSI (12 PSI at sea level, but alas, 7500 ft is my normal altitude). It's a stupid amount of fun. :)

The wife has a turbo Focus hatch, the other daily is a 99 Corvette. The Corvette is the nicest car we own, but the Focus and Miata get 99% of the seat time because they're just more fun. :P

How do you like the Fit? I've been hearing good things about them.

They're decent cars. Frugal on gas, acceptable performance for everyday driving, plenty of room, plenty of headroom for a 6'4 guy. Before I bought my current vehicle in 2011, I test-drove a Fit. It was more or less exactly what I expected. The biggest negative was when I test-drove a Civic immediately afterward and felt the difference in ride quality. Not that the Fit felt particularly bad, but the Civic directly after was a substantial and very noticeable improvement.

Waco it's just missing the running red lights back and forth, and you could have KITT's cousin.

2013 Ford Focus SE sedan with all the options. It's a great ride for the price, but as many reviews have stated the "automatic" transmission is... weird. To say the least.

I drive a 2006 Hyundai Sonata GLS with the 3.3L V6. I took a gamble back in December of 2007 on a Hyundai since the used price was super low compared to a comparable Honda or Toyota, and they were starting to get a better name for themselves, especially with this model of the Sonata. I bought it as certified used with 100k\10 year warranty and about 31k miles on it for $13,000. A year and a half prior to that, when it was new, it would have been about $28,000 as configured. Purchased with cash (and trade on my 1996 Buick Century), so haven't paid a cent of interest on it.

I'm happy to say that I've had no major problems with it and only had to do general maintenance to keep it going. Even when running a 1200W RMS sound system for about 6 years it handled it admirably as long as I stopped messing with the electrical system.

Does great for a FWD car in Northern PA winters, very spacious, most comfortable car I've ever sat in, easy to work on, has decent gas mileage for the engine size and has plenty of power for me.

Fantastic car for the money. I don't know what I'll do when I finally need to retire it, because they completely changed the Sonata after 2010.

The alternative to the stick shift in the Fit is Honda's CVT. While everyone agrees that Honda is making the best CVTs around today, there is still much less feeling of connection to the drive train than with a manual transmission.

Our "new" car is the 2005 Ford Freestyle in dark blue. It has the CVT. It is the smoothest ride for shifting and accelerating. I love it. The nifty part is that rather than manually forcing it to 3rd of 2nd gear for downhills, you put the shifter into "L" and it is just very aggressive with engine braking. Just a different electronics/computer mode.
Now the reason we bought it was the captains chairs 2nd row + the 3rd row. One of the nice unexpected surprises was the 12 cup holders. Yowser.

Sigh..... so last weekend my truck took a pounding from mother nature. Went to Regina to participate in the Canadian Cancer Society Relay for Life. 15 minutes before the event was to start, while all the cancer survivors were gathering to get their group shot on the bleachers, the Heavens open up and it hailed hard for about 20 minutes. Anywhere from dime to quarter sized hail. At first I thought I escaped damage, then I checked again once the morning light came up. I took it to the adjusters, I thought there were 22 light dents on the hood, they counted 96. *#$^#%^#$ aluminum (the steel body is flawless, only the hood took damage).

Sucks to have to have it repaired but it will just mean that the supercharger install will be that much easier with the hood being off to get repaired (PDR).

I drove around with my friend last weekend in a stick (second time at all/first time on the road). That was, well, interesting... I did fine going a town or two over on the freeway (downhillish), and then stalled a bunch getting back. (Goddammit... traffic lights and engaging 1st gear.) And unfortunately, I don't think that friend is a terribly great driver - i.e. I thought you only need to hit the clutch when braking when your RPMs are getting too low (engine stalls otherwise), not necessarily every time you hit the brakes a little... If I can get the hang of the clutch engagement point, I should do fine. So, I'm now considering it this way... manual = easier + cheaper maintenance/fewer failure points, and more control is nice in some cases. Auto = just easier, usually fine. Hmm... And I'm thinking about getting a 6th gen Accord at this point. I like the MPG on the Civic (or better yet, a Geo Metro ), but they feel kinda small/too low to the ground. I'm guessing rust shouldn't be much of an issue for cars on the west coast though.

This is a review of my car. I like it a lot, which I guess makes me both a bad Asian and kind of a douche?

I also have an old KLR-650 that I, uhh, stole? Someone loaded it into the back of my wife's truck (before she was my wife or even my girlfriend) when we were at the state fair! We didn't notice until we got home. It had no license or registration on it -- we tried to get it back to the original owners, honest! (´;ω;`)

I like to ride it around for errands; my wife doesn't fit on it.

OK, I'm not one of the cool kidz. I drive a 1987 Mercedes Benz 300E, 180K miles, black/gray, in stock and perfect condition. It even has the original cassette deck (!) and analog cell phone (though I've pulled that). It is a wonderful car that never has stranded me.

I picked this up in February (the Miata, not the Golf, I've had that for a few years now):

2000 Miata, had 14k mi when I got it.

Not a typo, fourteen thousand miles. Yes, I checked Carfax. It was legit.

I had a '98 Accord. It was a much larger car than the previous generation. The handling and ride were softer, too, especially with the V6. Replacing the original 205/65-15 wheels and tires with a +1 upgrade to 205/60-16 improved the cornering and the appearance. With the 200 hp V6, acceleration is brisk, but beware that the 4-speed automatic transmission in that generation didn't hold up well to the power of the V6. I ended up spending $1400 for a transmission rebuild before I reached 200K miles. The car was still doing fine with 240+K miles on it when the young man to whom I sold it was rear-ended by a truck, totalling it.

Hard to find something more fun to tool around in. Tiny, goes where the quads go, and parks anywhere there's a few feet available. Under 2,000 lbs and each tire with 20 lbs pressure as required by the owners manual, can hold up the truck. Running around with no top these days, just a boatload of fun.

Parked the Mark VIII for now.

A co-worker had one of those Samurais. After a large truck passing close by caused it to roll over, he considered himself lucky to be alive with only a short hospital stay and a few weeks off of work. He vowed never to own another Suzuki or allow his friends to own one. It's probably fine if you're just using it in the country at less than 60 km/h, but at highway speeds, I would not choose one.

Well got my baby back the other day from the hail damage repair. Gotta say that I lucked out on getting an extremely good PDR guy. The insurance guy counted roughly 90 dents on the hood and about 3 on the roof. After the dent guy got through with it, 193 dents on the hood repaired and 97 on the roof.

I'm really picky about my vehicles so I was prepared to send it back when they called me telling me it was finished. Any slightest imperfection and I would have had them go back and fix it (especially after hearing horror stories about how hard aluminum was to do PDR on). To my amazement, it was a flawless repair. He even went so far as to fix the two factory dents on the hood that all these trucks come with so it is actually better than new.

LOL. You know Consumer's Report lost the court case over this. If a truck going by knocked him over I wonder what his driving skills are like. It's tiny, under 2000 lbs, it's gonna be quite different from a normal car. As well the inside of mine is plastered with warnings that this is not a normal vehicle.

Mine will do almost 70 mph, but 60 is where I drive it on the highway, if she'll go that fast.

I will add that one thing many people get wrong; is tire pressure, it should be 20lbs on all 4 tires. This makes it much more tractable than the 30Lbs most people seem to put in them. That just makes em' bounce around.

Its got probably over 250K miles but hard to know because the speedo died years ago. I use a blutooth transmitter and Torque to make my dash mounted cell phone into a speedometer.
A couple years ago I picked up a red 2007 Cobalt SS Supercharged with the limited slip transaxle and leather interior. I've always wanted a supercharged car and it only had 18K miles on it. I'm coming up on 36K now. Gotta say that Chevy/GM makes a good motor but the rest of the car is cheaped out to the max. The Neon is a more comfortable ride, more durable interior, and has a superior air conditioner.

Just a quick note: A couple months ago My retired Navy electronics technician friend reworked the solder joints on my Neon speedometer. The whole thing works now and a whole host of floating ground behaviors that were happening all over the car, have ceased. I still keep the Torque app on my cell phone mounted on the dash. What a great way to monitor so many variables in real time.

Welp, those won't have much problems with wind at least. I'm told that's an important factor in Chicago.

As for me, I am toodling around in a blue BRZ:

Great fun, just make sure you only have one friend, and never pull up next to anyone in the front row at a stoplight.
