JustAnEngineer wrote:The alternative to the stick shift in the Fit is Honda's CVT. While everyone agrees that Honda is making the best CVTs around today, there is still much less feeling of connection to the drive train than with a manual transmission.
localhostrulez wrote:I had a '98 Accord. It was a much larger car than the previous generation. The handling and ride were softer, too, especially with the V6. Replacing the original 205/65-15 wheels and tires with a +1 upgrade to 205/60-16 improved the cornering and the appearance. With the 200 hp V6, acceleration is brisk, but beware that the 4-speed automatic transmission in that generation didn't hold up well to the power of the V6. I ended up spending $1400 for a transmission rebuild before I reached 200K miles. The car was still doing fine with 240+K miles on it when the young man to whom I sold it was rear-ended by a truck, totalling it.I'm thinking about getting a 6th gen Accord.

Not a typo, fourteen thousand miles. Yes, I checked Carfax. It was legit.

After a large truck passing close by caused it to roll over, he considered himself lucky to be alive with only a short hospital stay and a few weeks off of work. He vowed never to own another Suzuki or allow his friends to own one. It's probably fine if you're just using it in the country at less than 60 km/h, but at highway speeds, I would not choose one.
Mr Bill wrote:My first purchased car is my blue 96 Neon Sport Coupe. Its getting a little wheezy but makes a great around town car. I just keep fixing it up. Its got probably over 250K miles but hard to know because the speedo died years ago. I use a blutooth transmitter and Torque to make my dash mounted cell phone into a speedometer.
A couple years ago I picked up a red 2007 Cobalt SS Supercharged with the limited slip transaxle and leather interior. I've always wanted a supercharged car and it only had 18K miles on it. I'm coming up on 36K now. Gotta say that Chevy/GM makes a good motor but the rest of the car is cheaped out to the max. The Neon is a more comfortable ride, more durable interior, and has a superior air conditioner.
