I believe I asked this a few years ago but I don't remember the answer.

If I bring a waverunner, is there somewhere within a reasonable distance I can get it into the water? Someplace I could toodle down to La Playa De Fish and beach it?

Please don't quote me on this, since I haven't been a local for 20 years, but I think that you are probably about 3+ mi from the closest boat launch. Maybe a bit more since you have to leave Lake Macatawa and head North from the end of the pier.

Maybe Ian could just ride it clear across lake Michigan? :D Wouldn't have to worry about the boat launch that way hehe. How much range does a waverunner have anyway?

But then he can only bring a small amount of hardware to trade. :)

I'm quote you! Yes, that would be the best way to do it. Second closest is further north at Pigeon Lake. You can't actually launch from the state park but there are a number of places around Macatawa that would work.

BTW, still not sure about the date but now leaning toward the 11th based on how the schedule turned out.

It'd be worth it for me! i never rode one before! just gimme the keys, drop it into the lake, and i'll drive to fishies house...

How do I find fishies house from the lake? Is it easy? Maybe he needs to put that huge raft in the lake for reference?

Also... it's like riding a motorcycle/scooter, right? just click the key on, push the throttle/pedal to the max and let 'er rip, eh? wheeeeee!

According to drfish's edited first post. It better be, because I just added it to the thread title.

The leaking was the best part!

If it's not going to leak, make sure to manufacture a hole in the middle so that we can dive in for a quick dip, or splash water @ each other easily.

Follow-up: Anyone coming from Chicago this year? I'd like to get a ride, if so; I'll pay gas the whole way!

My boyfriend lives in the Chicago area, and it is possible that I'll drive over to pick him up to bring back here in time for the BBQ, so if that works out, I'd be willing to pick you up too :)

That'd be awesome!

I'll need to know soon, though, so that I can figure if I need to rent a car. Of course, if I DO, I'll be glad to bring him with me!

Ironically, that reminds me of my life right now >.< I figured the username would get the point across to people here who I am though, and I enjoyed that it sounded similar to Sisyphus too XP

Just curious, have you thought about taking the train? I think it only cost him like $30 to take Amtrak back home, which is a heck of a lot cheaper than gas and car rental! I'm sure there would be people willing to transport you from the train station once you're in town here too :)

I'll talk to him in the next day or two about it once he gets back from his travels to Pittsburgh, and will let you know. Hopefully that'll be soon enough for you to know..?

Is the train from Chicago to Michigan bad?

I'm pretty sure I was sober yesterday, I just really liked the idea of using a train rather than driving myself...
