Various Cities: "Indie Game: the Movie"

I posted this a couple of weeks ago, but the film has gone into slightly wider (short term) release: NYC, LA, SF, and Phoenix.

In addition, there are upcoming screenings in various other US cities, Toronto, Australia (the one in NZ is already sold out), the UK and Germany

So if you're in one of these locations and gaming or (especially) game development interests you, you might want to catch a showing. My "summary" from my previous post:
I previously wrote:
I went to a special screening a couple of months ago -- the film-markers were there to do a Q&A, and the audience was full of industry people -- and I intended to do a write-up/review but never got around to it. This is a nice little doc that focuses on a couple of independent developers writing games for XBox Arcade (Fez and Super Meat Boy, as well as Braid). The movie itself is pure indie too -- they got their funding from Kickstarter -- though the technical quality belies that: these are people who do video work for their day jobs, and it shows, and earned them a Sundance award. The developers at the heart of the story -- these are one or two-man teams -- are precisely the kind of smart, quirky, stubborn, motivated misfits I've often met in tech (and who often are successful if they can get out of their own way), but they're articulate about what they're trying to do... and the painful slog of trying to do it, which the doc captures very well. And there are a few cameos of gaming notables along the way.
So check it out if you're looking for something a little different from the latest comics-derived SFX blockbuster. Or if you want to wait, they'll eventually be selling DVDs and downloads too (with a lot of additional material)
