Gerbil Classification

Postposted on Wed May 16, 2012 9:21 am

Sorry, know this is buried in here somewhere, but could someone point me to the official thread about our Gerbil classifications.
Mine just changed, and I'm now curious.

Thanks.

It's just a ranking system based on how many posts you have. Almost every php forum has one.

All gerbils are class Mammalia, of course.

Like nearly all pet gerbils, yours is a mongolian gerbil.

You can tell it's a Mongolian Gerbil because it's plotting an invasion of China.

These transitions are celebrated in this thread, and the actual levels are here.

And interestingly enough, a large group of rodents is called a horde.

Which makes a large group of gerbils pictured above...a Mongolian Horde!

Coincidence? I think not. :D

You should have been here for the Great Gerbilicide of 2004.

The gerbil ranks in the thread that UberGerbil linked are obsolete. The correct levels are in the FAQ in the announcements section.

It looks like the lower ranks are the same between the two lists.
Is the only difference the addition of higher ranked Gerbils?

Anyway, thank you for pointing it out.

Captain Ned, after reading the link from JustAnEngineer, it appears that I was actually a victim of the Great Gerbilcide of 2004.
I had completely forgotten about it.

I allways wondered about the classifications, I knew it was based on post, but didn't know the numbers. I guess I have a ways to go to get to "Gerbil Team Leader", I read TR everday, but rarely have time to comment.
