Looking for a good yo-yo.

I feel like moving up to an all-metal yo-yo that can be made unresponsive, but there just seems to be too many to choose from. Anyone have any recommendations?

A Yo-yo?
Each to their own I guess. I could do a few cool tricks with a yo-yo as a kid, but uh, I have better toys to play with now.

How about a nice ball-in-a-cup? Or some wooden blocks? Or, maybe Santa will bring you a Erector set if you're good this year.

I haven't played with a yo-yo in years, although it's a great parlor trick, especially if there are knee-highs running about. They love that kind of stuff. I have no advice on what you should get, but contra the Sarcasm Committee's contributions above, I wish you best of luck in your search: everyone needs a hobby, and there are surely much worse things you could be doing with your time.

Answering seriously, a cheap plastic one that is sufficiently weighty;

If you're serious with your question - you're asking it in wrong forums. There's a specialized forum for "hardcore" Yo-yo enthusiasts:

Generally great advice. Don't fall prey to gear acquisition syndrome (G.A.S.). We've all been there.

Heh, I sold three of my bikes last year, now I'm down to just two! G.A.S. is a very real problem, where do I get counselling?! :P

Assuming you're already using a decent plastic one, the Yomega Maverick is pretty much the 'standard' for solid pro/metal yo-yos. It's probably not 100% the best one out there, but it's really well balanced and not a pain to find.

I sold a bunch of stuff, too. I don't need 3 DAW software packages and 3 audio interfaces. Down to just one of each now. :D

I started browsing other forums; it seems you're right. I didn't realize how big of a hobby yo-yoing has become.

I prefer Lincoln Logs!

or even:

"What rolls down stairs alone or in pairs
rolls over your neighbor's dog?
What's great for a snack and fits on your back?
It's Log, Log, Log!

It's Log, Log, it's big, it's heavy, it's wood.
It's Log, Log, it's better than bad, it's good!
Everyone wants a log! You're gonna love it, Log!
Come on and get your log! Everyone needs a Log!"
