DerFunk knows this is coming, but it's my standard welcome to new gerbil pups: They aren't as fragile as they look and you will test that early on.

That said, congrats and have fun sleeping for the next several months.

The great news is that Ned is right. They're not overly fragile.

Cheers...and in about six weeks when you're getting enough sleep to be coherent again, let us know how he's getting along :)

Six weeks? Optimist.

About all I remember from that slice of life is the wife's foot telling me that this food/poop/pee/whatever crisis was mine to deal with.

The other gnarly bit is the translation between boob juice/formula and cow squeezings. Mine could drink down a big glob of cow juice and instantly shower me with feta cheese.

Congratulations! What an awesome journey.

What Ned said, and remember to let them be themselves, let them explore and climb and build and knock stuff down and see what happens; wrestle and hug and snuggle.

For me and my daughter, I learned the entire back road system of my area. There was a phase where the only time she slept was in a moving car. Since my wife can't stay awake beyond 9:00 PM it was up to me.

Congrats! Hope you rolled the dice high and got a good sleeper. Every baby is different with that.

That sounds like a good excuse to buy and set up a G-scale model railroad in the backyard. Just convert one of the flatbeds with a carseat mount, and voila...

My cousin discovered that putting the car seat on top of the running washer / dryer worked just as well. YMMV.

The daughter in question turns 15 in December. I'll save that one for any potential grandchildren.

"I read it on the internet, it must be a fine idea."

I guess it depends on where your washer/dryer are, though. My grandma on my dad's side had a galley-style kitchen (like a hallway) with the washer/dryer at the end. She could have done that (theoretically) with grandkids while she cooked.

I notice that paulWTAMU hasn't posted here since the OP. That's cuz his ass is either asleep or dealing with the baby.

Congrats. Infants suck, but they grow up and get cooler.
