clone,

Go back and re-read the thread. It wasn't that he was swamped- it was that he really didn't try at all, and outright ignored most questions while randomly answering a select few. He really, really under-served AMD here; and he didn't answer my one and only question, which was to define just which communities he was involved in. How do we know how busy he's been, if we can't see the full results of his work, other than his near complete lack of engagement here on TR?

Because the process stinks. It's useless to a community. He might as well just hand out business cards! So yeah, I disagree with *his* process, I don't think it's conducive either for TR or for AMD; and I think it's very shady. It shows that he'd rather not have to stand behind what he says, and that robs him of any real credibility, not that he actually attempted to establish his credibility in the first place- which is also a problem.

And as far as I'm concerned, he's gone. I don't expect him to return. He's welcome, of course, but he wasn't ready for the fire he jumped in the first time- do you really think he'd survive a second attempt? He's seriously lucky that we're not beating war-drums all the way to AMD corporate over his mishandling of this job and his misrepresentation of AMD to this community. And I can guarantee that is going to happen if he pops his head in again and doesn't clean up his act.

He's still here, he's just not dealing with this thread.

Yup, I saw that. And laughed, and laughed, and then cried, for AMD.

Did anyone who asked him a (serious) question via PM get an answer? I'm not asking you to post the question or answer here, just a show of hands (who asked, and who got an answer).
Nostalgia isn't what it used to be.

 I am still constantly amazed by how stereotypically simple-minded you people can be... Look, you can already ask same exact questions in places like Rage3D or Beyond3D forums which are being actively read by several AMD representatives, you also have official tools like a link to "bug reporting" (through "AMDsurveys" site) on the official download page of each new driver release, beta or not. You might even get a proper response through these methods.

Exactly. There is absolutely no sense in AMD employing a 'community representative' that doesn't operate in the community or represent them back to AMD.

And seriously, if one person has a problem, why on earth should that be in a PM? Like JohnC said, there are already far better methods for pushing individual issues on the spot. The TR forums, and forums in general, are for collaboration, which is what 'Sam from AMD' seems to not be interested in at all. So why is he here again?

Well I asked why my Rage Fury MAXX doesn't work on anything but Windows 98. Nah, just kidding, already know the answer.

Oh man. If that's how AMD wants their guy to engage our community, it's just sad.

And to answer JBI's 'poll question', no, I never got a reply from Sam. Don't know if it's because my account has some settings wrong but I did correct them immediately and I don't think Sam was able to reply before I was able to fix it.

Heya WarSam, welcome to TR.

I have this A8-660K here I picked up at the TR BBQ, thanks indirectly for sponsoring that. Think you can trade me a motherboard for something? I haven't had any AMD gear in my house in some time (sad face).

Hope you enjoy your time at AMD, the previous AMD/ATI employees I've known have loved it, even when times were tight and the products were harder to love.
Please don't edit my signature for me. Thanks.
