No they don't, here is the information from the Isle of Man Government on the TT for 2013
a later rule change. the point remains the same, racing on public roads is not always what it seems.

looking into why is not disrespectful so yeah like those who didn't want to know I can understand how you could see it as my fault.... all of it, it would have been so much more respectful to just assume Paul and Roger were wannabe boy racer stupid idiots who got killed being stupid idiots while endangering the public. (the line pushed by most in this thread)

perhaps TR could put that on a card and send it to Paul's father, his wife and kids. you and others could sign it since it's such a great idea. take a real measure of pride in it. bravo.

here is a summation of what I learned:

1: I believe the reported speed might be revised higher in the final report. (the corner itself allows for it on entry and the methods used to determine it are notably loose approximations)
2: while speed played a role (can't crash if you aren't moving) it was not the lead.
3: the Porsche crashed on the inside of the corner, this is why I believe excessive speed was not the direct cause of the accident. had the Porsche crashed on the outside of the corner an assumption could be made opposite to the one I'm making now.
4: the corner they drove into was a decreasing radius, they are tricky but more to the point they would have had to scrub speed all the way through the turn. (which is why drifters would absolutely love it)
5: upon finishing the turn I'm almost certain it was upon exit as Rodas would begin to apply more throttle that traction broke.
5.5: the Porsche is a mid engine car, when driving aggressively the car suffers from pendulum effect, literally the weight throws itself around from front to back depending on load.
6: once traction was broken the Porsche took over with the lack of stability control complicating the problem.
7: low profile tires, stiff suspension, lightweight of the car and stiffness of the chassis all made the breaking of traction far more abrupt and unforgiving.
8: the Porsche in question also has a very wide turning radius making compensating for the drift near impossible.
9: I suspect cold tires played a contributing role in the crash. (the term warmup lap is not just for the driver) to be clear Rodas would have known and adjusted speed accordingly and yes while true the race tires can be soft enough to peel with a finger while sitting on a warm day, they are designed for much higher operating temps.
10: their has been talk of fluid on the road but I suspect this will be discounted given the lack of extensive reporting on it.
11: I'm 50/50 regarding the "issue" playing a role in the crash. (stalling) I don't believe it did.
12: I don't believe a road imperfection caused the problem, shots of the road show it to be in good shape, very wide with what could be considered an abundance of margin for error.
13: both occupants were licensed, active race drivers with a considerable amount of experience.
14: both occupants shared ownership in a business on the corner of the road where the crash occured, their knowledge of the area was extensive.

all things considered I'm convinced it was a combination of throttle input exaggerated by the mid engine placement (upon exiting the corner/pendulum effect) combined with a lack of stability control and the Porsches very wide turning radius all working together to make a typically minor, recoverable, mistake not so much. the Porsche came out of the corner lost traction and went into a wide uncontrolled spin putting them off the road and finally into a tree where they died.

yes, surely this is all my fault, I'm the one attacking their memory, I'm being so disrespectful.... this forum has so much ugly in it.

Rest In Peace Paul Walker and Roger Rodas.

Excessive speed, nine year old tires, badly worn brakes. Oh well.

Yup.
Nothing but speed and driver error (includes not maintaining your vehicle, (tires)) as most said from the very start of this thread.
All other factors discussed by Clone are either false, or also fall under stupid driver error.
They knew it was a mid-engine car, they knew how it handled.

Hence, the original premise has again been proven.

Don't drive past your capability, don't drive in an area not designated, don't drive beyond the law...and your chances of getting killed in a single car collision are greatly reduced.

PS...brakes not a contributing cause...only the disk was worn beyond spec...it had pads and would work 100%...it was only an indication of age, quality of maintenance and complete inspection by Porsche= not a contributing factor per the report.

PSS

all of it, it would have been so much more respectful to just assume Paul and Roger were wannabe boy racer stupid idiots who got killed being stupid idiots while endangering the public.

Not what we said exactly earlier...but turns out to be pretty accurate.
