Re: Win a G-Sync conversion kit for the Asus VG248QE monitor

Wed Dec 18, 2013 7:49 pm

I'd love to win one of these upgrade kits.
First of all, I have the monitor, as shown in the image below, as well as a GTX 770 in my rig. So I'm good to go for G-SYNC. I'm an electrical engineering student, so the upgrade will be a breeze.

I notice stutter and frame tearing A LOT, when I play games that have annoying jumpy frame rates. Even in games with relatively smooth frame rates there is some issue. I'm very curious to see how G-SYNC looks in different games with different frame rates.

I play a lot of different games, ranging from RPGS, FPS, MMOs, racers, and pretty much anything else that comes out that takes my fancy.

I can definitely provide feedback of my experience with G-SYNC.

I'm very curious about the G-Sync performance with BF4. I was using the lightboost utility which was very smooth but the strobe effect gave me a headache.
Cheers,

I hope I get the opportunity to be one of the first people to try G-sync out.

I have a Nvidia GTX 670 video card.

I entered the contest. ASUS VG248QE and my ASUS DirectCUII GTX 670. I'm stoked to try out this brand new DIY Module technology, G-Sync to fix 3 common symptoms: Stutter, Lag, and Tearing.

Hi ! First time I heard about G-Sync I was amazed by the technology involved in it!
I hate playing with V-Sync ON because I want Max FPS but the Tearing/Slutter/Input Lags and such ruins the gameplay in Fast-paste games (FPS and Race are the most affected).

I built my First PC back in 2008, but this Summer I created a Beast!(sort of) -> i7 4770K // EVGA GTX 770 SP w/ ACX cooler // Sabertooth Z87 Mobo // Corsair H80i CPU cooler // Etc.
Installing this DIY Module upgrade kit will be a joke!

You must be willing and able to modify your monitor by installing the kit.

Already opened my monitor once to see how it works, pretty easy!

You agree not to re-sell the kit.

Why would I? It's mineeee. For my own purpose only.

You agree to provide the TR community feedback on your G-Sync gaming experience.

I will be pleased to give any sorts of feedback to TechReport forums, so others potential buyers understand and see G-Sync within a Gamer perspective.

Canada.

Hi,
I'm new to these forums, but couldn't pass up a chance to win a G-Sync module. I've always been an early adopter of new technology, including Google Glass, LEAP Motion, OCZ NIA and 3D gaming even before there was NVIDIA 3D Vision. As such, I've been following G-Sync intently since the reveal event and would love to get my hands on one. Even though I have 2 GTX 780's in SLI, I still experience a fair amount of stuttering when running in 3D Surround, which drives me crazy given the amount of money I've invested in this setup. Since my frame-rates in those instances seem to be in the G-Sync "sweet spot" of 20-30 FPS, I think this would solve a lot of my frustrations. Additionally, since I already have 3 VG248QE's I would be able to do a side by side comparison of the monitor with and without G-Sync. I would then be happy to write up an analysis of the impact G-Sync has on my gaming experience.

Thanks,
Chris

I'd like a shot at the G-Sync conversion kit. I'm willing and able to mod my monitor and I have substantial writing experience. If selected, I will share with the community:

-Modding experience overview
-Subjective impressions
-Objective enabled/disabled performance testing using a benchmark testing suite I've been using for several years.

Should it be applicable, I have a Sony FW900 and a Casio EX-ZR100 to perform high-speed capture of lag tests. Example here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eBghWF9W8zs

Also, I have a he/pac man combo in my picture, so I'm pretty sure that should seal the deal.
